Hi, I’m Tiffany Green & I’m a Therapist in Chicago

I think I was always a therapist. Growing up, I was the one my friends and family members turned to when they needed advice or simply to talk about a problem. Even during my career in marketing and communications, the responsibilities I enjoyed most were supporting and encouraging the members of my team. Looking back, it seems fated I would eventually make it official by going back to school to study counseling.

But the transition from marcom professional to psychotherapist was not as easy as I had hoped. My marketing and fundraising job at the time was becoming more and more stressful. It didn’t help that years of neglecting my own self-care caught up with me at exactly the same time. I burned out—waaaaaaaaaay out. I was hospitalized and endured months of recovery from pneumonia.

I remember clearly lying in the hospital bed struggling to breathe, and telling myself that if I was lucky enough to walk out of that hospital, I would live my life differently. It was a difficult lesson but I learned it—the hard way. Over the next few months, I began making changes in my life. I started exercising, meditating, eating healthier, setting work boundaries, expanding my support network and engaging with people and activities that gave me life. I showed up for myself like I had never done before. It was during this time I also decided to go back to school full-time and pursue my passion of becoming a therapist.

I am grateful for all of my professional and personal experiences, which I believe contribute to my unique approach to therapy. I am both a cheerleader and a consoler; a gentle truth-teller and a confidant. I bring more than 20 years of combined experience in for-profit, non-profit, hospital and private practice settings to support my clients in reaching their therapy goals.

Today, I am a coach and psychotherapist specializing in providing care for women, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients. I offer affirming, culturally- and trauma-informed counseling to experienced clients, as well as those seeking therapy for the first time. I provide clients with a safe, warm and welcoming presence free from judgement to allow the telling of their life stories.

During our sessions, I’ll guide you through the process of finding a greater sense of clarity, balance and connection. I believe in digging deeper to identify the origins of thoughts, feelings and beliefs, which is the only way to create understanding and lasting change. I am passionate about helping clients heal from anxiety and depression, as well as racial and identity-based trauma, to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

In my work, I utilize psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic, attachment, spiritual and coaching interventions—all with a side of humor. I have masters degrees in counseling, business and divinity. I am trained in Somatic Experiencing® and am a DARe (Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience) practitioner.

When I am not seeing clients, I am tending to my impressive balcony garden, listening to podcasts, hanging out with friends and cooking. What people notice most about me first is my hair, smile and laugh—in that order 🙂

I am glad you found me and am so excited to take this healing journey with you. Reach out today and let’s get started!

Sincerely,

Tiffany Green (She/Hers)
