Our Clients

Our clients are predominantly women, who are challenged by competing personal and professional demands. They are smart, thoughtful, committed and goal-oriented. From the outside, they seem to be living an ideal life. They “present well” but often feel like imposters on the inside. They have devoted significant amounts of time and energy into roles defined by their association with others—colleague, parent, partner, spouse—often at the expense of their own needs. They feel overwhelmed and exhausted.

Our clients come to us because what they need most is to be seen and heard. They are seeking an opportunity to know themselves—free from societal, relational and interpersonal traumas. They have a deep desire to walk toward the life they know they deserve. They just don’t know where to start or whom to trust. This is where we help.

We guide clients through the process of unraveling years of old patterns that have served their purpose and are no longer useful. We address the coping mechanisms of hypervigilance, overfunctioning, workaholism and perfectionism. We process trauma. We release judgments and negative thinking. We identify and create healthy ways of connection. We become more comfortable in our bodies. We explore spiritual expressions and grounding. We do the work. And gradually, we peel back the layers and slowly introduce clients to their beautiful, whole, authentic selves.

Our Practice

The word “charism” (pronounced “care-ism”) has its roots in the Greek language and means “favor” or “gift.” The foundation of our work at Charism Counseling Center is grounded in the belief that everyone is born with unique gifts and that experiences in life can interrupt, mask or dim these talents. Our goal is to support clients in more fully recognizing and expressing their gifts free from the dramas, traumas and stressors of life. Charism Counseling Center provides individual therapy for women, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ adult clients. We offer a safe, open and affirming space for clients to create greater understanding and awareness of themselves and their lives. We provide support to clients living in Illinois.
